Advice on email server

By cleaver.agencies ·
Hi all,

I wonder is someone could offer me some advice.
I have 2 computers on a home network both using Windows XP home.
I would like to have a central mailbox that can be accessed at the same time on both machines.

I have tried to use Outlook and Public ShareFolder, but the sharefolder server will not connect.

I have tried to use Pegasus as this can be used over a network, but this keeps corrupting itself.

I have tried to understand MS Exchange but am just getting confused. Do I need exchange server and windows server?

Can anyone give me some simple, straight forward advice. I have no money and little patience left!! ha, ha

Why not use a web based email account. Or if you already hava a POP3 account with your ISP you could use e-mailanywhere.

thanks for the reply,

I have thought about web based, but I live in Spain and my internet connection can be sporadic sometimes. Also I am storing probably over 2000 emails and would really like these kept on a local machine.

Does anyone else have any advice or ideas?
Is MS Exchange server the way to go? In which case, can anyone suggest some reading or websites for a bit of a newbie who is easlily confused (ha,ha)
