AIX versus SUN

By laurie_graham ·
If you had both AIX and SUN in your shop, would you keep both or pick one or the other? And if you picked one over the other one, why would you? What criteria should be used?

AIX vs. Sun

by Mair In reply to AIX versus SUN

Well, I have worked with both now. I have found that aix is easier software wise, but if your running it on a risc6000, I believe the hardware architecture is a little more difficult.... I have ran Sun O.S. Solaris 2.6, 2.8 on an ultra1 and ultra30. I had port problems but fixed those and apc power issues but was able to figure those out and fix them. I find them both to be very stable. As far as preference, I am learning the AIX interface now. I like it so far. I don't miss Solaris let me put it that way.

aix v.s. sun again

by rick In reply to AIX vs. Sun

I've heard that when you choose Oracle ERP,sun will be the better enviroment for Oracle ERP. For sun'os is its native developing and testing enviroment. Is that correct? I wonder...Even so,it doesn't mean that sun sloaris is better than AIX,does it?Could you give more information about this issue? Much obliged.
