CName Records

by BFilmFan In reply to Alias for a domain name

Yes it is possible to create a CName (Alias) record for a domain controller. This is very commonly used for round robin DNS name records for several domain controllers, an example being ladp.mydomain.com pointing to multiple domain controllers.

See http://www.zytrax.com/books/dns/ch8/cname.html for how CName records work.

where do they sit

by rbelt_74 In reply to CName Records

What file and location do the cnames sit in? The explination page was unclear about that. I am guessing it is like a lmhost file but does it reside on the server or every workstation???
