CName Records

by BFilmFan In reply to Alias for a domain name

Yes it is possible to create a CName (Alias) record for a domain controller. This is very commonly used for round robin DNS name records for several domain controllers, an example being pointing to multiple domain controllers.

See for how CName records work.

where do they sit

by rbelt_74 In reply to CName Records

What file and location do the cnames sit in? The explination page was unclear about that. I am guessing it is like a lmhost file but does it reside on the server or every workstation???
