Amazon Prime is Showing Russian Propaganda Movies

    Locked

I stream the Amazon Prime Video Service and I was surprised to find that Amazon had purchased a movie that appeared to be from Russia called “Undercover.” It appears that movie glorifies the FSB (the successor to the KGB) under Mr. Putin.

I worry that this is another example of our major media enterprises (Facebook) failing to protect the American public from foreign propaganda/fake information.

The movie clearly glorifies the FSB as crime fighters breaking up crime syndicates.

Unfortunately, the FSB has recently been implicated in poisoning several Russia nationals living in England through radioactive materials and chemical gases.

Is Amazon’s lack of apparent oversight of its media purchases a real problem?

Should we ask Amazon to be more careful in its purchase of media from other countries that are currently subjected to U.S. sanctions given a series of cyber attacks against elections in the United States and Europe and international bad actions in Syria?

Do American viewers, in general, have the capacity to discern foreign propaganda when they see it or will they unwittingly see the Russian FSB as equivalent to U.S. law enforcement???
