Annoying hang up.

Whenever I try to save and use the save in: drop down menu in word, excel, powerpoint, it takes about 15 seconds to drop down. sometimes it crashed my computer. After this all of my windows drop down menus slow down. Any suggestions? I tried reinstalling office, nothing worked. I really don’t want to have to format my computer. Any suggestions? Maybe something in the registry?
