Anti-spam email accounts

By onbliss ·
I am wondering if people use anti-spam email accounts much, and if yes what are the reliable ones?

I know of two such services Spamgourmet and Mailinator.

It so happens that I would like to participate in discussion forum that does not accept gmail, yahoo, hotmail accounts. And I have never used my ISP provided email account.

the nice thing about ISP provided email accounts

by jdclyde In reply to Anti-spam email accounts

they give you between 5 and 10.

Make up one that is used for just that one site. If you receive ANY spam, you know where you got it from.

Want to be in more than one, make one for each.

The real question comes in, with TR here, why would you need to go anywhere else?

(no, I have never used one of those anti-spam accounts)

Good idea

Arrghhh, why did'nt I think of that :-( For some reason I was stuck into this rut thinking that I could use just the main email id. I did not want to give out my name :-)

As far as the real question, it is not a technical discussion forum that I want to post in :-)

with me...

I have several e-mails that are site specific, and therefore it's easy to keep track of what goes where, and came from where. 'Normally' this one is strickly closed and for business, and family, I guess I must have made an exception for TR, but I guess ya'll are just a little family too. ( oh, yes it does get a little bit hard to remember too many yahoos though )

Would need a spreedsheet!

to keep track of them all!

I have gmail accounts I use, and then have them all forward into a single account so I don't have to worry about checking them all.

Family? Of course it is like family. Who else but a big brother or sister would treat you so badly?

It is in my nature

to see the simple things right in front of me. It is a big part of why at work they THINK that I am the GOD that I am!

I don't just know tech, but I find solutions.

My biggest pet peeve is when a user demands they want XYZ and they want it like ABC. You tell me the problem and where you want to end up, and I will provide the route to get there.

Not a technical discussion format? And this is? B-)

Hey smart guy!

Hey smart guy! This is another thing we have in common. I've been using unique e-mail addresses for years and funnel over a hundred of them into a single account.

It really works great, doesn't it? No spam problems, EVER! No futzing with it either.

One time I started getting SPAM "from" the Wall Street Journal. I contacted them about it and got the usual denial with explanation that it must be coming from someone else. I contact them again, explained that the e-mail address is unique to them (and not guessed by a spammer), explained that they have a security breach, and demanded they escalate it. I got a personal response from a senior WSJ manager thanking me. Many customers were complaining. They never told me where the breach was, but the spam stopped.

It's amazing how smart I think you are when we agree! ;-)

(tip of the hat to NB)

I would have to say

Sure, you are smart enough to come up with the same solution I did, but you were too slow at posting the solution!
