Anti-Spam Message... No need to read...

By Packratt ·
This thread is intended to combat a spammer who is repeatedly posting messages to himself in order to sell something.

I hate to resort to this tactic but seeing how TR will likely do nothing about this I will attempt to turn this spammer back since I do not want to see this great site go to heck because of one stupid kid trying to sell something.

Hopefully this will knock the spam messages out of the hot discussions group and that kid will give up. Dumb spammer.

This is a test...

This is a test of the TechRepublic rating system. It demonstrates how a single person could force a message into the top twenty.

Avoiding such spam related techniques could be done, but it would require a lot of extra work and it could create other problems.

Even if this work is done to perfection, it could be sidestepped simply by having several people work together in an effort to boost a discussions TR rating.

There is something to be said for censorship, unfortunately. It is too bad that 'shunning' doesn't work well in cyberspace.
