Google “Most Widely Used Programming Language” and you will find claims by people that C, C++, Java, Javascript, COBOL, Visual Basic, and even Python, is THE most widely used language. (I mostly use C# so I don’t have a horse in this race).
The only current really methodical survey I can find is the Tiobe one, which puts Java clearly at the top of the heap. Does anyone know of any other current, systematic surveys of programming language use?
