OK, I'll help

Keep in mind that I'm a hardware guy, not a web developer.

Two hints:
1. URI
2. Web browser

If you can't figure it out from there, give up web design and move into sales.

apache is a web server, not a web browser.

find the home directory and drop your files there.

wrong actually

Apache is the software foundation that works on the httpd server mistakenly called Apache.
they also have a project called Amaya, which is a web editing suite, including a browser.

then answer these

1) do you have mod_dav and mod_svn installed into Apache Software Foundation's HTTPD server?
2) do you have a site script installed that uses the above modules to access the subversion repositories? [ Trak being the most commonly used one ]
have to read the HTTPD documentation as well s the Subversion book available online?
