    App which tells you nearby place

    Hye!
    I am thinking to make an app that provides you nearest vaccine centre available in your city.
    User will just press one button “Locate”.
    And the app will list down the nearest centers with their address. Can anybody tell me what would be the best approach for this.
    I have the complete data of vaccine centers and their addresses. So that would be placed in a database isn’t it so?

      Indeed, it would have to be stored somewhere. If you call that a database or a file is irrelevant, unless you use the indexing capabilities offered by a database system.

      It’s best to store it on a server. If you put it in the app, it would have to be updated every time the app is used.

      A few remarks:
      – Distance can be different as the crow flies, or if you go by car or bicycle or walking or public transport. Do let the user choose how he travels?
      – A link with Google Maps would be nice.
      – It seems useful to take opening times into account. It makes no sense to point people to a site that’s currently closed.
      – It seems useful to tell the user if he can walk in or must make an appointment first (and how to do that, if necessary).
      – An app to find testing centers might be more useful than an app for vaccine centers. After all, testing will be done more often than vaccinating.
      – Remember tht you’ll need an editorial staff to maintain your database. It’s not very static. Here in the Netherlands we have ‘vaccination buses’ that are on different locations every day to reach as many people as possible. Or maybe even just a morning or an afternoon.

      There are many apps for finding nearest places such as: places near me, find near me, Eventbrite, What’s around me, etc. According to my personal use the best app is around me.
      Around Me app is like having a personal city guide in your pocket, you can find things like the location of bank, hospital, and nearest vaccine center within a few taps. Easy to use, and great reviews.
