Application errors!

By ctlmtrcng ·
When opening a word doc, i'll double click and it will open. Few seconds later, it will give me error saying "WINWORD.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.". Then I would try it again and itwill give me the same error. This also appears when i'm trying to print. I've tried uninstalling Office2000 and reinstalling it. Then just recently tried to open Adobe Photoshop, gave me the same error, but instead of "WINWORD.EXE" it said "Photoshp.exe". I am trying to keep away from re'installing W2K. But if that is the last resort then I will. I appreciate any suggestions here.

Well it looks as if you need to install Office 2k service packs. I think there is only one service pack out there, but there might be two. anyways, that seems like it might be the answer. but then again, i'm not too sure. if you get errors opening Photoshop too, then there might be some windows system files that are messed up. in that case, you'd have to some miraculos way figure out which file it is and update it. otherwise, a clean install of Win2K might be the only answer. you could do a repair install of Win2k, but from my experience, that is always really sloppy and you get more errors than before. also, if you don't have Windows 2000 service pack 1 installed, that might fix the problem.

I've already installed service packs for office and W2K. Forgot to mention that.

before you rinstall W2K in the add/remove programs you can actually try and fix the problems if your using W2K server. Go to each program in the add/remove programs and try and see if it will fix the problems jsut folow the screens. had similar problems with O2K on W2K and it seemed to work for my apps.
but first try rebooting the system if you haven't already. Go to safe mode and try and run the App. and see if you get same error if you do it is Windows 2000 that is the problem.

I had a similar problem with my Windows 2000 laptop. It ended up being the print driver. Try reinstalling your print driver. You may have to delete the printer and recreate it.
