Are these problems specific only to software projects?

by putchavn1 . Updated 17 years ago

Many of the problems–Changing requirements, users not knowing what they want, irrelevance of the need and solution over time, inapplicability of traditional methods—are projected as those special and unique to software. A review of other products and services in engineering to entertainment fields indicates that they too are afflicted by very similar, if not identical, problems.

The analysis of the problems and proposed methodologies to solve them seem to be under formulation, often having their own limitations and failures but the claims are too tall. If they are half as good as claimed, they would have been adopted on a large scale. The proponents would do well to improve the methodologies to be effective and economical than to campaign for them.
