are we really dying?

Sometimes I think that the TR fora are dying out, especially the one around the water cooler, but someone has not told certain illicit advertisers that: some idiot has posted 11 copies of an ad for password hacking in the main discussion column.

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to are we really dying?

Seems like a lot more to me.

Yes, indeed,

as you, being a moderator, presumably have to keep track. There's a lot of delend stuff today about printers.

Well if you like John

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Yes, indeed,

I could bring back all the ones I have deleted this morning.

I think I only went back 45 Pages trying to find something that didn't need deleting. Up until a couple of weeks ago I was very worried about Deleting any User Accounts as I saw it a power I didn't want and thought I may become too comfortable deleting users.

Since then I've lost count of the number of users accounts I've deactivated and really think I need something more powerful that what is currently available with all of the spam that is currently being posted.

and a lot more today

I can't see any real discussions. Don't anyone tell any spammers about the Water Cooler.

Bet you can not see them now.

Yes, we're DOA

by GSG In reply to are we really dying?

The articles are repetitive, you can't follow a discussion attached to a blog, and today I was lucky and could actually log in. Most of the time, I can't even log in, or click on a link without opening it in a new tab. In fact, today is the first time I've been able to get logged in for about 3 weeks. It's very sad, and I hate to say it, but I go to zdnet instead. I hate how every single blog has people calling the poster a shill for Microsoft, or Apple or whoever, and basically are a big group of trolls, but I've seen a few of the old TR peeps on there as well.

GSG's problems are not the same as mine

by john.a.wills In reply to Yes, we're DOA

Perhaps that's because I ignore a lot of the articles and concentrate on the fora - and this forum has very little in it these days. Perhaps I should look up a controversial tract and post it.

Well if this helps

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to are we really dying?

I deleted the account of a certain Justin Beiber yesterday.

Seems this person wanted to give a lot of free advertising to solving Computer Issues along with a Toll Free Number. But when I rang that number all I got was a Number Not Connected message. The depths that Spammers will sink to truly amazes me sometimes.

16 months later but multiple posting is still a problem.

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Well if this helps

That should answer the 'Are we really dying?' question.
