AT&T degrading their 2G Signal

By Maarek ·
According to OFB ( is secretly degrading the 2G signal in 3G areas forcing users to upgrade to the newer phone. It's a signal switch from the reliable 850mhz to the 1900mhz. I don't find this a wise choice, because a lower signal strength will make users change carriers. And most people don't know the difference since 90% of people only talk and text.

Now for those who purchased an iPhone 2G before May are still haven't reached their half way point on their contract. AT&T says they will need to change their phone and their iPhone plan increasing their bill by a minimum of $10 for the data and $5 for the limited texting.

This isn't the first time they did this. Back when AT&T was Cingular and all the phones didn't have color, the technology was TDMA and it was everywhere. But Cingular started changing the technology and was limited in areas with it's new GSM. They forced people to upgrade by limiting the supply and coverage of the old TDMA/1G phones.
