Attention creative minds: Help needed to create an acronym

By Beth Blakely ·
A friend of mine is the e-learning coordinator for a group of community and technical colleges. She needs to come up with one acronym to describe the people from each college who'll have limited sys admin privileges to the course management system, Blackboard ( http://www.blackboard.com/us/ ).

She's hoping to use words like e-learning, campus system admin, facilitator, helper, support, etc. to form it. All she's come up with so far is "elf" for e-learning facilitators, but that's a bit too cutesy for her tastes.

Anyone have any bright ideas?
Thanks!

Why an acronym?

by Tig2 In reply to Attention creative minds: ...

Having spent ten years married to the Navy, I learned that there are acronyms for EVERYTHING. Another service person would laugh at the sign I kept on my door, "CommNavHomePac". But no one else would get it.

And therein the problem. Too often acronyms are created but the meaning is obscure.

In my personal opinion, your friend would be better off to establish a naming convention for each school that is mnemonic.

To clarify...

by Beth Blakely In reply to Why an acronym?

Each college will not have its own acronym. Everyone in the group will be called by the same name, whether it's ELF, or what have you. She'll be communicating to all colleges using just the one name.

Sorry for the confusion.
