Auto apply style to e-mail response

I received a response e-mail from someone a while back and in it my original text was indented and a blue vertical line was added along its edge. Unfortunately I didn’t think to ask them how they accomplished the effect. I’ve recently been trying to duplicate this with e-mails I respond to. The closest that I have been able to get is by using MS Word as the e-mail editor, I can create a style, (indented with a blue left border) then highlight the original message and manually apply the styleto it.

Is there an automatic way to apply the style I created to the original text? Is there a way add the vertical blue line & indent to original text using Outlook?
