Auto-create a record in Database

By Ken ·
I have 2 database files that both accept an address as part of their record but have 2 different functions. Is there any way that I could automate the process so that when entering the details into one of the databases it will automatically create a record within the other database but only if a certain condition is met, e.g. type? I am using Access 2002 and both databases are in 2000/2002 format. Both databases are used as part of a mail merge process so cannot be joined together in order to make the job easier.

For your problem the solution is a trigger. A trigger is a database object what is fired for insert or update or delete action. For more info see the Microsoft access help topic. To the create trigger topic you can find examples how can you create and use them.

Tried to locate information on how to use Triggers from within both MS Access help and Knowledgebase. Nothing understandable was returned. As a non-programmer in SQL I found some of the answers to be confusing. Any further answers that wouldn't involve SQL program would be appreciated.

have you had a look at the free sample forms database from microsoft downloads? it is usefull all in itself but if you have the office pro cd you can get both the sample database and the really helpful help file that goes with it on the second cd in the extras folder...
i think you want an update query. give us plenty of details...
you probably are going to have to write code. won't they pop for a class for you in Access programming?
