Auto Forward Mail?

By john.m1 ·
30 user LAN win2k / office xp / MS exchange server. I want to set up a users email so that incoming mail will automaticaly forward/copy to their internet/home based email account. They hardly come into the office and we have CEO's policy for no dial in connections allowed, so they cannot remote access email. any workarounds please?

Add a contact in the Active Directory Users and Groups with their name and home e-mail address. Then, under their regular user account, go to Exchange General tab and select Delivery Options. From there, forward mail to that contact you made for them. There may be a easier/cleaner way to do this, but this is how I have done it.

Just worked this out for myself ~?-)

synergy/dlo is right about answers i & 2 but his answer is not best for us as we have no static ip address and i wanted a real simple method, so points go to RyanH, thanks to you all for the response.

Do not use the resolution provided by Answer #1. Although it will work, it requires Outlook to be left open all the time on the user's workstation in the office. Answer #2 will work fine and doesn't require the desktop applicaton to be left open.

A better alternative if you have a full-time Internet connection with a static IP address would be to allow the user to use Outlook Web Access. If you are using Exchange 2K, OWA is set up by default. If you have a firewall or proxy server, there are a few tricky things about configuring it, but once it is configured properly, users can log on to their Outlook mail boxes from anywhere in the world that they can get to an Internet connection. If you need help or hints about setting up OWA,email me directly (synergy@synoffsys.com) or do another post and I'll try to help out. Hope this helps!
