Auto Login

By del.w.ackels ·
Is there any way to have Win2K Prof. or NT logon to the network automaticaly with out having all machines autologon with a user account of Administrator. (Our network is all workstations) What I would like is for all machines to autologon with a user and default password. Then if I need to work with the machine log off as a user and logon as administrator. But if I set the AutoAdminLogin as a user then I can not get back to administrator util I hack the regiestery from a remote machine.
I am in a production facility and have about 40 computers on the network.

If you have set the PC to autologon as a user and you want to log in under a different account, reboot the PC and hold down the left shift key as NT (or Win2k) is starting up. You will get prompted for user name and password again.

if you need to logon as a diffrent user .. press ctrl+alt+delete and logoff.. then you will be prompt to type a username and a password. You cna't configure two user name as a autologon account.

You don't need to reboot nor use a remote PC to hack the registry, unless you disabled the logoff feature in either Poledit or in the snapin policy for win2k.

Auto Login with TweakUI

by NMohan In reply to Auto Login

You can download and install TweakUI utility from download.com. After installing configure the auto logon tab. This will auto logon the workstations. If youd'd like to logon as the administrator, press shift-key when Win2K is starting up, or press Ctrl-Alt-Delete after Win2K has started up. Using TweakUI will spare you from any registry corruptions and is a powerful utility for other automations. Please use the auto logon carefully, as this might compromise network security.
