automate a User logon name in Win2000

By Tech10 ·
When creating a new user in Active directory. How can you automatically get a user logon name to appear when you put in the users first name and last name. For example we would want the username to be first initial lastname. John Doe would be jdoe.

Technet article Q250455 talks about how to change the Display Name to whatever you want it to be, using the ADSIEDIT utility. So, maybe you can try this utility and see if it can change the login name to the format you want.
Here is the URL on the article:

hope this helps

No, sorry this is NOT what I was asking! I already know this.
This has nothing to do with the "display name". When adding anew user I want the "USER LOGON NAME" generated automatically as I am typing in the users First & Last name so I don't have to type one in, and I want it to be the first initial last name of the user.
