Autonumbering in Excel

By TAARGA ·
I have just completed a form and used the Template Wizard to produce a database. Now I need for Excel to produce an automated number that realtes to the databasee.e.g Ref 1 and the enxt time the From is saved it generates ref 2 etc.

How can I do this?

Autonumbering in Excel

would this work for you? to put a button on the form labeled 'Save' and attach a macro to the button configured to save the form and increment a (variable) every time button is clicked? or, even simpler maybe, could you 'pre-fill' in a column of thedatabase (Edit/Down or Series) with the incremental numbers...? what version of Excel, anyway? tell us more about what you are doing with the database? why you need this number? what kind of reports you want from it? good luck...

Your button sounds cool, Could you give me the macro formular to increment a sequential variable everytime the button is clicked?

Needs to work in Excel 97

Sgt Schulz I like your button with the number being evoked everytime you hit the button. Give me the details.

The long route, is to write a Macro (with a button)

1. Saves Form to database
2. Copies number created in seperate column in the database and inserts into form
3. print
