I am using win 2k pro and msie 6.0. I need to backup my book marks and password list. How do I do it without backing up the whole drive?

To back up your bookmarks (Favorites), click on File, Import and Export, and use the wizard to export your favorites to an html file.

What passwords do you mean? Your Windows passwords are stored in a file named *.pwl, where the * represents your username. You can use Find to search for it. If you mean the passwords stored in IE, they’re in the registry in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
      Explorer\IntelliForms\SPW.

You could try exporting that registry key, though I’ve heard that importing them back into the registry might not work, for security reasons.

Hmmm.. This key doesn’t seem to exist in Win 2K Pro. Are you sure it isn’t only for Win 98/ME?
