Benefits of upgrading to dynamic disks

By RonnonF ·
We are planning to install Windows 2k AS on a new system. I have been reading about Dynamic and Basic Disks.
What are the benefits or problems with building the system with dynamic disks? Are there any performance increases by upgrading? I read technet and other web boards I just want feedback from people in the field.

Benefits of upgrading to dynamic disks

Dynamis disks are a lot easier to manage and the security features are far more superior than Basic. I prefer the Dynamic disk over Basic.

If you want to create anything besides simple volumes you will have to use dynamic disks in W2K. I am talking about striped volumes, mirrors, raid5 etc.

I believe that Basic Disks are there for backwards compatibility when upgrading from NT.Dynamic Disks are great from admin perspective, once converted to dynamic you can add partitions, volumes, format and other tasks without rebooting.
