The time has come to move a custom application I developed over several years (using a vba front end accessing a sql database) to a platform so it can be a compiled application which does not require the installation of Microsoft access (or access support files). My first thought was vb.net since it seems to be the most similar to vba, but upon investigation it seems the learning curve for it is greater than I initially thought. Before I invest that amount of time I would like the “expert” opinion on which platform I should use. This is not a web application, it is a multiuser application (normally 5-10 concurrent users).
