Best Laptop for Children

Hi Everyone! Can anyone recommend me best laptop for my child? He is in grade 8. So due to COVID, he is studying from home and he is in need of a laptop which can run Word Processor Easily. My budget is approx near to 400$. Waiting for your recommendations. Thanks in advance.

You can buy a good computer for about $300 that will work as a solid, reliable system. While I don’t have a specific model to recommend, I recently purchased an HP laptop for $299 (before tax) at Best Buy so she can run Quickbooks, check email, run basic Microsoft Office applications, and Facebook.

I would avoid buying a Chromebook as they are not fully compatible with MS Windows applications.

Here, the Chromebook was the go to laptop.

Price is right, for word processing we have Google Docs and I see Microsoft has a version of Word for Chromebooks now.

Ease of use is high since you don’t have to wait or deal with Windows Update.

There are many laptops in this budget. You can check any of them. For grade 8, you can easily get laptop under 300$.

Laptops don’t have fixed prices.

Have a look at https://www.google.com/search?q=back+to+school+laptop+deals+2021 to get an idea. Then pick a few models you prefer from shops you prefer and tell what those are. Then maybe we can tell what we would choose and why.

A few remarks:
– Ask the school what they recommend, for OS and specifications.
– Usually, studying from home involves more than word processing.
– Does your budget include a printer and a headset? Does your child need those?
– Consider buying a refurbished machine in stead of a new one. Usually, it’s more value for money. Like a second-hand car is a good choice for many.
– Consider buying in a local shop for personal advice and support, in stead of some unknown webshop.

I think the Lenovo Ideapad S145-15API laptop was a great choice for a child. It has a large screen and a fast processor that will come in handy in studying.
