Best Reference for a newbie...

I'm a seasoned/advanced DOS/WINDOWS/NT user with a little bit of UNIX knowledge trying to jump on to the Linux wave. I am not affraid to get down and dirty technical and have a computer science background. I have done several Linux installs (very successful) but when it comes down to actually installing new programs, hardware or just plain day-to-day operations with it I find my lack of knowledge frustrating. I was wondering what people would recommend as a single source to start with for expanding my Linux knowledge. Some book/manual/textbook that people have found to be excellent...
