Sounds as if the system is now dead.

But the M'Board CD isn't a Bootable Disc so I wouldn't be surprised that it doesn't work.

If this is a new build you'll have to tell us what is in it for a possible solution.

Hardware or BIOS failure

by mwhipple In reply to black screen

Sounds as though you're best off finding someone to look at it for you. If you want to try your own hand...Is there anything displayed at all during the boot process? Is there any Power-On Self Test information (any beeps)? Does your computer sound as it should (fans, drives, other normal startup noises...). Try removing and/or re-seating components, try resetting the BIOS (removing the CMOS cell battery from the motherboard for 30 minutes or so normally works and is the easiest instruction). Could be the video card, MB, CPU, PSU. Try pulling the RAM out and see if you get a beep error.

Possible Faulty Power Supply

by f.ware In reply to black screen

Sometimes a faulty power supply is the problem. If you have a decent unit and let's say a power supply with a 300W rating, you may need to upgrade to a 450W or greater. When you turn on the system do you hear any sounds? (Beeps, clicks, etc.)
