Blank Screen When Logging into NT 4.0

By alexhay ·
I have a problem here and I really need help over here. When I login into NT Workstation 4.0, the screen just goes blank. Even I use the admin login also the same. When I use VGA mode also the same. Is there any solution to the above.

Depending on how far you log on..

without knowing this and how profiles are set up at your company (i.e. roaming profiles), one random suggestion is that saying you manage to log on and the screen blanks out every 10 mins or so etc, it could be theDisplay setting, screen saver tab, setting is for blank screen to kick in at the set interval. To get out of blank screen, press keys Ctrl+Alt+Del, then (although you cannot see window to type in) type in NT password and press Enter. Change setting in Ctrl Panel to fix for good by selecting a Screen Saver etc.

Something's Wrong

When you log in is there a blue screen or a black screen? The reason for this question is that NT will halt at it's blue screen and display rows of binary data and text at the bottom of the screen denoting a system error. You see this ifthere is a problem with hardware. If you can get into the bios check your hardware boot order and make sure all's ok. NT has to be first. In either case there has been some possible damage to NT so you will have to run the Repair disk or run the repair utility. If these methods do not work then you will have to reinstall NT. sorry but that's the way it is.

I have solved it already. The problem is the read permission for the Everyone group have been removed from the system root directory.
