BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH

By bsamp2112 ·
I have a Dell latitude laptop that has blue screened several times. The verbal error shows: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. What could be causing this BSOD and how can it be avoided.

You didn't say what flavor of Windows you were using, or what you were doing when it BSODed on you. But, from what you said here, I would either suspect the memory or the problem listed at this url.

With my previous Dell Latitude (a Latitude LM P133) laptop I had several BSODs, which only happened when I used Netscape Navigator. The problem was a bug in the Neomagic video driver. After updating this driver, my laptop never BSOD again. Most BSODs are caused by buggy drivers, so I recommend to visit the Dell support site and check your driver versions.

I have experienced a couple of times in the passed. This refers to bad RAM because RAM is considered NONPAGED versus Swap which is paged. Try removing some memory and/or swapping it out.
