Bonded broadband network

By kenthezen ·
Hi there,

First time on TechRepublic and already loving all the details and info I can learn here.

Anyway, I am the sole IT guy on a SMB with 60 staff and around a total of 80 online devices (IP) inclusive of my servers.

Recently a vendor for a bonded broadband solution met up with me and proposed that my company implement this tech.

My current network is running on fibre (10Mbps) and my bandwidth usage is not that critical yet and looking at my company's direction, the future expansion will not include a lot of hiring nor devices that require online connection.

Though, I do frequently run into issues of bad services from my broadband provider, it is a known fact around here. So with the idea of a multiple lines coming into my company with redundancy, is really an interesting idea for me (Phew, thank god nobody will call me anymore during Saturdays!) not to mention that my users will be very happy with the constant availability of the internet.

Now, the proposed solution is not cheap, it is about 2x more than what my company is paying for the fibre broadband (inclusive of future downgrade of current broadband and applying for additional broadband from other ISP). My company will also be tied up to at least 1 year of contract with the vendor.

Is this a proven technology?
Is it worth the jump in cost?
Are there better solutions?
Any other advice, will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thank you, TechRepublic'ers!
