Boot drive choice?

By threedoves ·
Is there a way to have my computer boot to a Win 95 drive which is set up as a slave drive?
I built a new computer and have a 40 gig. drive as the main hard drive (set to master) which is running 98 SE.
The slave drive is running 95 plus. I havea program and data on the 95 drive that is essential to a business. The software company that made the program is out of business.
If it is possible to have the choice to boot to either drive, how do I do that? Or is it better to put the slave drive onto a partition on the master and then use a boot manager to switch to it?
Thanks for any help!
Kathy

You can access the drive using My Computer each time you want to use the OS.
To have a choice of booting from either drive you will need to create a dual boot setup on the same drive but installed in seperate directories
Ref the following sites

Greetings Kathy,

Yes there is a way.

In your BIOS you can define which drive you want to boot up on. There's a section in the BIOS, which is easy to identify, with which you can set the "boot sequence". Simply select that Win95 drive as your first boot device. The only thing is you would have to go into the BIOS each time you wanted to "change" that first boot device. But it's really no more trouble than any other method. And if you only "occasionally" want to boot on that drive, the extra step is really not that significant.

Regards,

Maxwell

Partition Magic 6.0 come with a program called Boot Magic.
It's perfect for users because it give a GUI boot option screen. It allows a user to choose which OS to start with, without the user having to know anything about BIOS setup or anything like that.
The user just chooses Win95 or Win98.
