Bootable DVD problem

By joncr ·
I've created a bootable DVD with a boot floppy using Instant DVD.
The problem occurs after the bootable bit executes, loads the DVD driver and maps the drive. It then drops to DOS and I can do a dir to see the DVD contents of the drive. I cannot access and file as I get file not found and I cannot change directory. I would say it was a problem with the driver but I've used this bootable floppy several times and I've checked it isnt corrupt. Any ideas?

It sounds like your BIOS is not capable of booting from DVD. Check your BIOS version and see if you can obtain an update from the MOBO manufacturer.

I've used several DVD's to boot from before. These are brand new HP ML360 DL's and have the most up to date BIOS.

If the first answer does not work check the folder and file names, whilst you are working in DOS you have to adhere to the old DOS restrictions of max 8 characters in a file name and only about 4 levels of drill down before it maxs out.
