Bootup Problem

by mr1827 . Updated 23 years, 1 month ago

Hi:

I made a mistake by not preparing an ERD (Emergency Repair
Disk), and now my computer is giving me the following
error:

“Windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupted
\WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
You can attempt to repair the file by starting windows set
up using the original setup CD ROM. select ‘r’ at the
first screen to start the repair.”

I inserted ORIGINAL CD, tried to reboot.

Originally I was asked to choose to repair by
selecting ‘r’ or to set up by selecting ‘c’, and i
chose ‘r’.

Then it asked me to select ‘r’ for emergency set up
or ‘L’ for some other option. I chose ‘L’ as I had no
Emergenncy repair Disk available. And the computer just
hungup there.

Now when I am trying to bootup by inserting my Original
Windows CD, it is even not asking me any options. It is
just givingme the original message “Windows could not
start because……………..”.

What can I do now?

Any suggestion? Please send me an EMail also.

Thanks,
