Bounced Mails to only Some Sites

By gda ·
Sending Mail works fine for most places but on a few it gets bounced with 550 cannot route to sender address <>. We are running Exchange 5.5. Can anyone help with this?

Bounced Mails to only Some Sites

Your exchange server probably had relaying enabled at one time and your mailserver is being blocked by an open relay database.

the 550 error tells you which server bounced the message. connect to the server and it will tell you how it blocked you.

go to start run "telnet 25"

You should instantly get a message that your server is being blocked and instructions on how to be unblocked. If not do the following commands until you get the instructions.

mail from:
rcpt to:
subject: test message
this is a test

end it with a period/enter. it should tell you if you are being blocked.
