Browser speed

I have two browsers. One (netscape 6)gives me a fast send/recieve whilst the other (IE 5.5) seems to hang before it does a send.
I ve checked all the hardware and dissmissed that as a cause.
The problem only started after getting IE 5.5. No problem with older version.
I have an external ISDN TA so I can watch the RD and SD lights. Does anyone know of a setting in IE which causes it to not perform all send request immideatly?

When one browser performs better than another, it is time to clean out the cache for the slower browser.

In Netscape... look for a cache folder.

In MSIE look for a Temporary Internet Files folder and clean out all the files and folders underContent.IE5

Both of the above locations of these folders depend on the versions of browsers and the version of Windows.

Make life easy. In IE goto Tool - Internet Options, then click Delete Files to clear your Internet Cache. Then Click on Settings and set the size to about 60 megabytes. To increase performance a little more you can move it off c: to another drive orpartition. If you look above these settings, you well see a section that says Check for newer versions of stored pages... These options are pretty self explanitory and choosing Never, or Everytime IE starts, instead of automaticaly or everytime pageis visited can improve performance also.
