Browsers Crashing in Vista SP2

By lila108 ·
Recently both Firefox AND IE 7 (7.0.6002.18005) are crashing. IE continues to display "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" . After I close it, I get the Windows message" IE has stopped working" with the option to close the program. Exactly the same thing happens with Firefox - EVERY TIME! It is very annoying, waht to speak of the fact that I now CANNOT access the web in any way.

Please advise.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

You receive an error message in Internet Explorer: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"

Press the Winkey + r type inetcpl.cpl and then press ENTER. (The WinKey is also known as the "Windows key", "Windows logo key" or "Start key" on your keyboard)

Click on the Connections Tab. Click Lan settings and untick the box to the left of Automatically detect settings. Click OK and close out of Internet Explorer and try connecting again.
