Building cluster server in NT

By imageus ·
I am building a web farm using MSCS cluster. I have Adaptec 2940, 3950 and also 133U controller card. Does anyone know whether Adaptec 133U Raid controller is compatible with MSCS ? If so what would be the setting ? With a RAID the cluster does not install at all. Without RAID the cluster installs but the drives do not failover. Any ideas ? I had talked to Microsoft tech support but no help because I am using clone machines. Adaptec do not provide any support.

The Microsoft HCL list does not help your case as they do not list the 133U controller in their Cluster HCL (http://www.microsoft.com/hcl).

Since the Cluster software requires a controller that can 'give up' controll of a device on the storage bus, the 133U probably does not know how to do this. With the availability of the 2940 and 3950, an external RAID device would work great (but at additional cost).

Microsoft does have a general troubleshooting guide in Technet. It can be found at:
http://www.microsoft.com/TechNet/winnt/clutsho.asp?a=frame

Good luck
