Burn a Disc prompt in Vista

By chris.debardelaben ·
I'm trying to load drivers for a wireless keyboard and mouse. When I insert the disc, the "Burn a disc" prompt appears, and will not read the contents of the disc. It's prompting me to format the disc. I don't want to format the disc, just execute the software. Am I missing something?

Bad CD or broken CD/DVD drive

It is either a bad CD/DVD or a bad hardware. Try cleaning the CD with a damp cloth, if it still doesn't work, try another CD/DVD. If that works the CD is bad.

Tried another disc

Same problem. No matter what I put in the DVD Rom, it wants to format and burn. This happened AFTER I did updates.

So, undo the updates

Undo the updates one by one and see which one caused it to puke. Remember to reboot after uninstalling each update. Or it could be coincidental and the drive failed...
