Burning CD’s…Software or Hardware Fix?

I have a Philips CD-R/RW with Easy CD Creator 4.
Is there a way to write CD’s so older CD Drives can read them? Disks that you buy or get in the mail can be read by them, but not the ones I burn.
There must be a way to burn disks that older Drivescan read.
Do I need software or different hardware?

Is there a work around or something I can change to be able to do this?

I have a lot of old DOS games I would like to burn to CD, but I need the older drives to be able to read them.
