    Business Analysis

    by vseokane ·

I have just been called upon a project to perform business analysis for a medium organization.I have already met the CEO, who gave me manuals on the business strategies, goals, mission and visions of the company. I would like to interview the managers and users in the respective departments to find out about activities/processes they perform to achieve business results and also gather information on how IT can add value to their jobs. What kind of questions should I prepare for my interviews with the staff ?

What are the processes/activities being performed?
Are the processes/activities, as designed and performed, effective in achieving desired results?
How extensively is technology be used to perform these activities/processes?
How does technology affect your ability you perform these activities/processes effectively and efficiently?
      What applications are being used?
Do these application meet all your needs?
KEY QUESTION: What would you change in the way things are presently being done? Employees who do the “grunt” work in any organization often have very keen insight into how their job could be done more efficiently with the right tools.

In addition to what have been already said use metrics when reporting your findings:

. time, effort and money spent when performing a task or process
. number of success and failure
. amount of rework due to failures
      . savings

Management is generally sensitive to numbers
