Can a smart home camera reliably detect mice or rats

I’m considering using a small indoor security camera to find out whether mice or rats are moving around my house at night.

Has anyone actually tried using a smart home camera for this? I’m wondering how reliable the motion detection is for such small animals, especially in low-light conditions.

Would changing the camera’s motion sensitivity, placement, or angle make a noticeable difference? Or would a dedicated pest/wildlife camera be a better option?
