Can I keep paying for my domain on Dreamhost but use Wix via self-host?

We are currently using WordPress but are thinking of swapping to Wix as it is more user friendly so we’ve heard. But we pay for our domain through Dreamhost and so we wanted to make sure they’re compatible. We haven’t found any answers online so far.

Registering a domain serves two purposes:
1. Make sure that nobody else uses it.
2. Tell the world-wide DNS servers where to find the site.

That’s what you pay for. The company you pay can tell you what they can do and what that costs. Ask them. Maybe their policy is to only register domains that run on their own servers.
