Can not find a contact in Global Address List

By Flashtube105 ·
We have Exchange 2003 and a mix of Windows 2000 pro and XP pro desktops, all running Outlook 2003 service pack 2. My manager can not see a user, Ron on her Global Address list, but shows up on mine. She has WinXP sp2 and I have Win2k sp4. One area has 5 Winxp pro machines and one Win2k pro machine and can not see user Ron on their Global Address List. Why can some see Ron and others can not? Thank you.

Cannot find a contact in Global Address List - Fixed yet?

The workaround works fine. But has anyone found a fix yet? I need to have all of my Outlook clients in Cached mode.

Thank you.

Sounds like a cached/offline address book issue. I'd say the Offline Address Book hasnt updated.

Do a send/receive. That should force an update. I suggest a GPO to schedule regular pushes of the OAB a couple of times a day.

A solution

There is a registry hack that can be applied per user profile. See MS KB article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/841273

Part way through this article it says: "If you make frequent changes..." and it describes how to force clients in Cached Mode to always look up addresses from the online GAL (not cached).
