Can not install any thing downloaded from internet

by ak_gates2010 . Updated 18 years, 3 months ago

over that last couple weeks I have tried to download and install several things off the net. Antiviruses, Utilities, IE 8, IE 7, games, and have even tried to update some things like antivirus but it failed evry time, updated are downloaded but when it comes to install them it fails. They look like they download fine, file size is as each website has suggested it should be.

When I click on the exe file to install there is always an error and it can’t install. Some have crc errors, some have corrupt package, corrupt installer, missing files, ect.

I do not have nVidia firewall. I do not have any other firewall but what XP comes with, and I have tried disabling it.

My virus scanner is Panda, it is up to date, and its not catching anything either. I have tried stopping and starting it as well.

I have tries reinstalling XP again as well but the problem persist like any thing.

I do not have another NIC card, I have no wireless.

I have ran spyware, the only one I have on my computer and it supposedly is up to date, and its not catching anything.

I have run CHKDSK /f and CHKDSK.

I have emptied my caches and temp files.

I was able to download registry defrag off of cnet and I did a crc overide and it looked like it was going to install, got about 75% complete before it came up with an error and I had to puch cancel.
I do have firefox.
I do not have another computer, if someone has something i need to download to help me fix this.

My initial thinking was a malware or trojan or something in my registry, but I am not so sure.

As i did fresh installation, so there is no question of system restoration.

ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
