We have a leased line with a router on each end, 2 different networks. I am trying to join a 2000 pro machine to the domain and it says the domain can not be contacted.
I have tried:
1)Adding the pdc and the 2 bdcs to the lmhost file, this got mea step further when it asks to give the credintials of a person with the rights to join the network then it bombs out(domain can not be contacted) before when I put the name of the domain under mycomputer->properties->net identification->properties it would bomb out right when i hit apply.
2)I can ping the pdc over the router and bdcs
3) this machine has a static address and the wins addresses and default gateway are in the tcpip properties along with enable netbios over tcpip, we do not use dns.
I can always bring the pc to the net with the dcs but it is 45min each way, so that would be 135min of driving. I will do this if I can not find out anything else. Let me know if you need any more info.
