Can not log on to XP Pro Domain issue

By geopammc ·
I worked for company A and my Notebook was set up for their in office network. I had a domain, user name and password. I no longer work for that company, but I still signed on at the logon screen using the Usr and Password. I went to reset the network today to my home network inorder to see/share files and when I changed the computer name and domain it requested admin privledges to make the change.

Using the old admin usr name and password the changes were made.

Then it says to reboot and when I did I could not logon. I used the old usr name and password, new one, admin one, nothing. I can not get past the logon screen.

Any ideas? I have all logons for my old company (I was a contractor and finished the work there in Dec 07)

Now I can not get to any of my files/data on my laptop.

What about login recovery?

by damien.lefevre In reply to Can not log on to XP Pro ...

I have used couple of time the service provided by http://www.loginrecovery.com

This should get all the local users and password if you have a floppy disk or even a CDROM I think.

If you manage to get the admin password, you should be able to browse the disk for the files at least.

You can try this...

SPOTMAU:
http://www.spotmau.com/products/package/full.htm
You will have to buy it as it is not a trial.
You will have to burn it on to a cd to use it, but boy is it worth it. You will see when you get/buy it.

Please post back if you have any more problems or questions.

I am now back into windows with Admin privledges. Thank you. I need to restore a user though. I had one user it was me. Now I have Admin and Guest.

the directory is still intact with all it's files. The user name was george and the directory george still exists. How can I restore those files, profiles, etc. as a living breathing accessible user?
