Can Office 365 Auto Save feature be unlinked from OneDrive

Needing some help with the Auto Save function in MS Office 365. We're slowly rolling out OneDrive as our backup option for our users. One user currently has OneDrive installed on their computer but they have not been officially signed up to use it yet and are still using the old method of our backup system. He would like to keep the Auto Save function on but MS Office 365 keeps directing him to login to OneDrive and upload the file to autosave. Is there any way that OneDrive can be unlinked so the user can continue to Auto Save to the current directory that is selected?

Auto save unlinking

Open any Office 365 program that can open a file (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and click File

Select Options from the left navigation.

In the Options window, select Save from the left navigation.

Uncheck Autosave OneDrive and SharePoint Online files by default.

Going forward, your documents will default to Autosave off. You will need to turn this setting off in every Office 365 program you don’t want Autosave turned on.

You can turn Autosave on and off manually for each document you are working on by toggling the setting in the upper left-hand corner of the program.

Stopping auto sync from OneDrive

To stop a OneDrive sync:

Open the settings options of your OneDrive for Business client. Right click (Windows) or double finger tap (Mac) the OneDrive icon near the clock.

Click Settings option
Navigate to the Account tab
Find the folder sync you want to disable, and click Stop sync. Locally available files will remain on your computer; online files will be unlisted from the folder.
