    Can send locally but not externally

    I can send & receive email locally(within my Company) but not able to send email to externally like @yahoo.com, @hotmail.com,..etc

    What could be the problem ?
    My company is uisng Exchange Server 2000
    Client is Outlook 2002 & outlook Express

      Quite possibly your mail administrator has removed the ability to send to certain domains.
      I suggest talking to your mail administrator and ask him/her this question.

      If it is a limitation imposed by your administrator, then the only solution is to talk to him/her…

      Unless you have admin priviledges on the mail server there isn’t much else you can do.

      Check you settings in outlook if you are using a POP3 account, in my organization we require you to authenticate through the SMTP server to send mail to the outside world, if you dont authenticate you can only send localy. Go into your email account settings > More Settings > Outgoing Server > and check the box My outgoing server requires authentication.
