Cannot anymore send out email in Mozilla Thunderbird

    by zlzpqx ·

I have mysteriously newly started getting the following message in Thunderbird.
    ——————–

The message could not be sent using Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.q.com for an unknown reason. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

    —————-

I have not changed any settings for the Outgoing server (SMTP) in years. (The port number continues to be the Default number.)

As a possible remedy, I newly downloaded Thunderbird and then restarted my PC. No luck.

      I see Q.com has a webmail interface.

Try using Q.com’s webmail interface. I doubt anyone that works for q.com will respond here so be sure to contact them directly.

Rename the Thunderbird-profile in your Appdata\local and appdata\roaming folder. Then run Thunderbird and in the new profile it creates define the settings again. If those work, carefully compare with the old settings. If you can’t get those working either, contact q.com.

Rename back those 2 folders when all is solved. You’ll have your old Thunderbird settings and data back (possibly need some change in the settings, or not, if the error is with q.com).
