cannot get excel spreadsheets

I have tried to go to my usual spreadsheets this morning. When i go to excel and try to open files it says “illegal operation”. I can search for my spreadsheets and find them but when i click on them it says “illegal operation”, then it says ” cannot find yyyy.xls spreadsheet, make sure the path and filename are correct and that all rwequired libraries are available?

help please
